Photographs will cover landscapes along the entire shoreline of Baikal, and will reflect local ethnical peculiarities, such as portraits of native population, their way of life and religion. The book will certainly make its audience familiar with Baikal's amazing world of flora and fauna. The body of the album/book will consist of stories, legends and sketches about folklore heritage of buryat, evenk and tungus nations, as well as shamanism, echoes of Bon and Buddhism, which will lift the veil of mystery from profound and true wisdom.
In addition, a supplementary multi-media photo CD with descriptions of trip itinerary and mini video components will be included in the photo-album.
A special mentioning deserves contemplated publication of gift version of the photo-album for presentations in various municipalities, for regional administrations and for presenting as a token of gratitude to participating organizations and private individuals.
Avoiding pompous words and epithets, I would like to note that the uniqueness of this project is justified by the uniqueness of Lake Baikal itself and surrounding cultural and ethnical material. Locations like this are disappearing from the face of the Earth, and therefore this project stands a chance to become a textbook for children and adults of next generation: a textbook of history, geography and culture, a manual dedicated to preservation of true values in life.
At the current stage - phase of final expedition preparations - I turn to all interested to participate in this project entrepreneurs and organizations with a request to demonstrate their support by leaving their names, their personal contribution in the future of education and world culture, by leaving their vestige as connoisseurs of beauty.
There will never be a lake like Lake Baikal: it is one of a kind, unique fresh water reservoir, ancient and young, living today and, I hope, existing tomorrow. Look at it with your own eyes..
